September 2007 Dear Mr Akand, It is with great pleasure I write to you at the end of another year of the activities of Symbiosis. We do appreciate not only your own dedicated effort but that of all the staff. Some of them work in difficult areas of Bangladesh but from the reports that come to me and from my personal observations the staff have an enthusiasm for the work and the people they work with. Please pass on our grateful thanks for their efforts and their willing contributions to help those in Bangladesh society who often though no fault of their own, have not had the opportunities others take for granted.
Looking back at the past year, I reflect on the achievements of the beneficiaries. The numbers of people, particularly women, who have completed the literacy courses, is most encouraging. Those who have grasped the need to provide more variety in the diet of their families and have taken the challenge to provide it, often though kitchen gardens, means that Symbiosis is providing a service meeting the needs of the beneficiaries. I cannot finish without mentioning our thanks to the many people who have supported our work though contributions to the donors. They and the donor organisations have provided not only the financial resources to achieve the goals but also to provide timely advice on many aspects of the work. Their contributions in these respects are greatly appreciated. I look forward to the future for the growth of the beneficiaries and to the changes that Symbiosis will continue to experience in the coming years. Yours Sincerely, Dr D J Yates Chairman Symbiosis International Australia |
