Symbiosis International

With more than 20 component projects and 200 staff, Symbiosis is now a sizeable organisation. As Symbiosis continues to expand, it faces increasing challenges in areas such as organisational planning and development, human resource management and training, financial systems development, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, and government and donor liaison.

In order to ensure that these issues are properly addressed, Symbiosis has established both a Country Office, located in Dhaka and the Symbiosis Resource and Monitoring Centre (SRMC), located in Mymensingh. These two units carry out complimentary functions which together ensure that Symbiosis is able to carry out its day-to-day activities.

The benefit of two centres is primarily geographical: The Country Office being the location of the NGO Affairs Bureau (with which constant liaison is necessary) and the major banks (for receiving remittances). SRMC, on the other hand is located 120km north of Dhaka, right in the middle of the Symbiosis Rural Integrated Program heartland.
