Project Goal:
"Within selected communities in Gazipur, to sustainably alleviate poverty, improve health and empower poor and marginalized."

Project Objectives

Community Cooperation and Institution Building: To raise understanding amongst participants of the benefits of working cooperatively and to develop leadership to ensure the sustainability of these benefits

Functional Education: To increase to 65% the rate of literacy and numeracy amongst participant and for 80% of new readers to be continuing to improve their reading ability

Savings & Income Generation: To improve the financial security of group members through increased savings and income-earning options

Health and Nutrition: To substantially improve the health of the community and increase awareness regarding important health, nutrition and hygiene issues

Social and Environmental Awareness Raising: To significantly increase the community's understanding of, and response to, important social and environmental issues, including the rights of women and other marginalized members of society.

Aysa is 35 years old. Her husband’s name is kader hossian. He is 45 years old. They live vill-Atlora, thana-Seeripur,Dist-Gazipur. They have 2 daughters and one son. Aysa’s family is very poor. There income was not sufficient to support their family. Aysa did not know how to read and write. One day Symbiosis staff went to Atlora for survey and meet Avsa. After listening all her past symbiosis staff advised her to join into our new functional education group. She was encouraged by us and joined into the functional education group.

Story
Hasha Rani is 30 years old. She lived in a village called Pakurihata in Dhunat upazila under of Bogura district. She is a house wife. She was uneducated and unemployed. Her husband is a Badsha Mia. They have a son. Hasha Rani knew handicraft works but they haven’t enough capital to run any business. They have no other source of income. Symbiosis staff motivated Hasha Rani to join functional education class then she joined the FE class. After a month she started saving with the other group members. She also participate with some others group activities.
